_______________
Part 10 pump valve complete will not come out or just fall out after it’s been un-screwed.
|
Part #152, #101 and #50 needs to be cleaned. Or…. replace #50
See this page: Clean parts #101 and #152
________________
The Problem with part 10 it is lacquered on the inside which made the part larger.
Someone left fuel in the tank to long.
|
Remove Part #152. Take off part #50 (try to clean out #50, with brake cleaner .
Clean the #152 (scrape it out with a wire, or use a .22-caliber brush used for cleaning weapons. Scrape off the #101, and sandpaper it down to shiny brass. Clean all these parts with brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner. Clean parts #101 and #152

Grab (use a tool called a flexible grabber) on the end of part 10 you will need to keep unscrewing the pump valve until it can be removed. (sometimes this can take some time)

Below Photo 33: Check out part # 33 make sure it is raised high enough, move above tool works best!! Part # 33 can fall down after using the lantern only one (1) time. If you do not check part can cause Red flames or flaming coming out of mantle.
Photo 33

Tips: (NEW Lanterns and old) FLAME-UPS or red flames on mantle - Check part # 33, and make sure that it is adjusted to a high level. It can loosen up and drop down too close to the
# 50. (see photo of adjustment above and below.) If your lantern has be used some also check the #152 and #101 for carbon build up clean as needed.See this page for #101 and #152 clean up.
Check # 50 and make sure that it's not loose. It can be a tad bit loose, (or you can turn with your fingers or not). Tighten it up with a crescent wrench or with part # 66 real tight, and you'll hear a squeak sound, when tightened. ! Also add Muffler Mender to the threads , most all auto parts stores carry Muffler mender ! See this page for repair with Muffler mender)

Both of the problems above can cause a minor flame-up. So....Just check these out, and you should be good to go!!!

Check and make sure your Part #111 (on/off knob) is loose.
If knob is loose...(before or after use of lantern)……..simply use crescent wrench or lantern tool, to tighten. DO NOT TIGHTEN ALL THE WAY DOWN!! This could cause damage to the graphite packing.
Secure enough to make knob feel nice & snug. Your knob should be easy to turn (not too easy), and stay put. (see photo below)

Upkeep of lanterns and stoves:
1.Do
not store fuel in lantern or stove for long
periods of time.
2.
When using " Bio" fuels clean out tank and
jets by adding some fuel cleaner (like carburetor
cleaner) with your fuel in the lantern or
stove. Use 4 caps full of a carburetor cleaner
to 12 oz's. to a tank.
2a.You
can also use a half of a tank of Coleman-type
or similar type of fuel in the lantern or
stove tank. Do this in the above in 2.and
2a. after 10 tanks full of bio fuels or
less.
3.
All other fuels except Coleman type fuels
- use carburetor cleaner in the fuel (4
caps to a tank full of fuel, every 10 fill
ups or less).
4.
Tighten up the # 50 always check this part,
when replacing a mantle, make sure the part
# 33 has not dropped down close to the #
50. Raise # 33 high as you can for optimum
performance. Most problems with the lantern
will be caused by these two (2)....items
# 50 and # 33.
5. Preheater Direction: Stove....Make sure you preheat the
area as shown in our stove instruction page
on this site, and preheat long enough. (preheat
time approx: 50 sec. to 90 sec.)
6. ITSIE-BITSIE TID-BITS Minor maintenance see this page.
