The
first lanterns developed,
named Petromax were
used by the German armies
before and during World
War Two. The military
significance of a lantern
that would burn all
liquid fuels from diesel
oil to petro(one
made for Petro)made
the lantern very useful.
Also developed were
heaters and stoves for
the individual soldier
and up to whole companies.
These three items gave
the German army the
benefit of heat, light
and a way to prepare
food with the use of
any liquid fuel available.(with
two lanterns)
The
German army and many
other military services
including the NATO forces
still use the same product
line.
Today they're using
BriteLyt lanterns and
stoves. BriteLyt
has used the combination
of the old & new
designs to create the
